shall be made without deduction for,
and shall be exempt from, any and all
taxes and other public dues present or
future imposed by or under authority
of France or any political or local taxing
authority within France.
4. France, at her option, upon not
less than ninety days’ notice to Great
Britain, may postpone payment of a
part not exceeding one-half of any ot
the half-yearly instalments due under
Article 1 to any subsequent 15th Sep-
tember or 15th March not more than
three years distant from its due date,
but only on condition that in case
France shall at any time exercise this
option as to the payment of any instal-
ment, the instalments falling due in the
third succeeding year cannot be post-
poned at all unless and until the instal-
ments due three years, two years and
one year previous thereto shall actually
have been paid in full. All such
postpqmed payments shall bear interest
at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum.

account of Reparations or of Liberation
Bonds exceed the aggregate payments
effectively made by Great Britain to

5. 51 4 un moment quelconque il
apparait que le total des paiements
offectivement reçus par la Grande-
Bretagne en vertu d’accords conclus
avec ses alliés pour le règlement des
dettes de guerre et au titre des Répara-
tions ou des obligations de Libération
axcède les paiements effectivement faits
par laGrande-Bretagneau Gouvernement
des États-Unis au titre de ses dettes de
guerre, un compte sera dressé par la
Trésorerie britannique, un intérét de 5
pour cent étant alloué au crédit et au
débit de ce compte ; et si ce compte
montre que les recettes excèdent les
paiements, la Grande-Bretagne créditera
la France, à valoir sur les paiements les
plus proches dus par la France d’après
l’article 1 du présent accord, d’une
partic de cet excédent et cela dans la
proportion même des versements effec-
-ivement faits par la France d’après
