CERTAIN BASIC TRADES
No one is competent to discuss marketing principles or policies, in their
general application, until he has followed through the methods employed
3-nd tried to distinguish the forces at work in actual trading practice.
The trades described in the following chapters are selected for this pur
pose. In some trades the problems arising and the methods employed are
quite similar; others will bring out marked contrasts. An explanation
of these similarities and contrasts should lead to a better understanding
of the principles involved in the marketing task.
