It will be seen that the average number of females largely out- 
numbers that of males in both the busy and the dull seasons, but in 
greater proportion during the busy season. The average of all estab- 
Tishments in the busy season was 13 for males and 123.7 for females; 
in the dull season, 12.1 for males and 105.8 for females. ol 
It will be noticed also that nearly all of the males were time workers, 
These male time workers are mostly superintendents, foremen, ma- 
chinists, floor boys, clerks in the factory, and Shippiugoont help. 
With regard to the females, it will be noticed that most of them 
were pieceworkers, The average number of females in all establish- 
ments during the busy season was 74.5 for pieceworkers and 49.2 for 
time workers. 
In Table 44 the employees during the busy season who were 16 
years of age and over are classified by groups, by sex, and by time and 
piece workers.
