The ever increasing demand for liquid fuel and other petroleum
products and the steady expansion of this industry made the com-
pany feel that its organization would not be complete without the
addition of a Fuel Department which it accordingly created in April
1924,
Shortly before the establishment of this Department, the com-
pany successfully negotiated with the Associated Oil Company of
California for the sole and exclusive sales rights in Japan, Korea,
Formosa, Manchuria and Siberia for Crude Petroleum, Fuel Oil,
Diesel Fuel Oil, Fishermen's Light Oil, Gasoline, Motor Spirit,
Kerogene and Cycol Lubricating Oils and Greases.
The importance of this connection with the Associated Oil
Company lies in the fact that they are one of the largest producers
and refiners of high grade petroleum products in the United States,
which naturally places the company in a position eminently satis-
factoy to meet all the demands of the market.
