Full text: Customs regulations and procedure in Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Anthrax, Goods infected, or likely to be infected with, viz. :— 
(1) Shaving brushes manufactured in or exported from 
Japan. 
(2) Goat hair produced in or exported from or through 
India, wool and animal hair produced in or exported from or 
through Egypt, including the Anglo-Egyptian Soudan, and 
goods mixed therewith. Importation is prohibited except 
into Liverpool, and is there allowed only on fulfilment of certain 
conditions as to the marking of imported packages, the entry of 
the goods with the Customs, their delivery after landing to the 
Government Wool Disinfecting Station at Liverpool, and their 
removal from. the Station after disinfection. 
Arms, Ammunition, and similar goods, except under licence, 
Viz, = 
(1) Firearms, lethal, and other lethal weapons from which 
a missile can be discharged, including parts of such firearms or 
weapons. 
(2) Ammunition, including grenades, bombs, and other 
similar missiles, whether such missiles are capable of use with 
a firearm or not, and components of such ammunition. 
As regards Great Britain and the Isle of Man, the licensing 
authority is the Board of Trade,* which Department has issued an 
open general licence for smooth bore shot guns and shot cartridges. 
As regards Northern Ireland, arms, ammunition and similar 
goods may be imported only under licences issued by the Inspector- 
General of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, Belfast. 
Clocks, Walches, or other metal articles, impressed with any mark 
or stamp representing or in imitation of any legal British assay, 
mark or stamp, or purporting by any mark or appearance to be of 
the manufacture of Great Britain or Northern Ireland. (As to 
the assay and marking of imported plate, see pages 47-49). 
Coin. viz. '— 
(1) Coins coined in a foreign country, other than gold or 
silver coins. 
(2) False money or counterfeit sterling. 
(3) Silver coin of the realm, or any money purporting to 
be such, not being of the established standard in weight or 
fineness. 
* In certain circumstances a Home Office licence may be required as wells 
as a Board of Trade licence (see ‘‘ Explosives ”’ below).
