The publication of this book, the‘ second edition of which is herewith offered to the
publie, represents a preparatory step towards the creation of an Austrian Export‘ Directory.
A beginning has thus been made with putting into effect a plan which has been under consideration
 by Austrian export interests for years.
In spite of the great variety of branches and of the large number of firms which: are
included in this directory, the goal, for which the Publishers have been striving, has not yet
been reached completely. The present edition has been enlarged by the addresses of 600 firms
which were not. contained in the first edition. Though the enumeration of exporting firms is still
iragmentary, the Publishers are of opinion that, even in its present form, the “Austrian Exporter”
will be a valuable help to foreign merchants and that in” its future editions, by including. to
2) greater extent the addresses of firms in the Federal provinces, the directory will become a fully
comprehensive hand-book of Austrian export interests.
