These figures co not include yachts, motor boats under 25 tons, and sai- 
ling ships. In 1925 there were two sailing ships carrying on long coastal service 
with 176 reg. gross tonnage, and 28 smaller sailing ships for smaller coastal trade 
with total of 2.307 reg. gross tonnage. 
The official figures for the end of 1925 give the following as the registered 
maritime shipping of the Kingdom. 
a) for long services. 37 steamships with a total of 81.059 reg. net tons and 
928 crew. 
b) for long coasting traffic 8 steamships of 2.584 net tonnage and 106 crew. 
¢) for short coasting trade : 822 steamships with 21.597 net tonnage and 
2.244 crew; 
d) Ships and crews : 4.827 ships with 10.526 reg. net tonnage and 7.826 
crew ; 
e) fishing boats 5.232 with 10.184 reg. net. tonnage and 16.783 fishermen. 
In order to make perfectly clear the classification under a, b, and ¢, it must 
be mentioned that the registration of trading steamships and boats as published 
in the ,,Official Gazette,, of November 9th 1922, no. 251, recognises as: 
a) Long services ; all ships and waters accessible from the open sea.
