ARTIFICIAL SILK TRADE

Fi \HE Artificial Silk trade is now, in
1928, giving employment to 200,000
-~ people, in a dozen countries. It is
supporting 1,000,000 people.

The total capital invested is about
250,000,000. The total assets are more
than £400,000,000. This is a guess, as no
one knows the exact figures.

The British capital invested is more than
£35,000,000, and the securities of British
companies are worth over £I150,000,000.

In production, America leads, but most
of the mills are owned by Courtaulds. Italy
comes second. Great Britain is third. Then
come Germany, France, Belgium, Holland,
