C. Influence on Political Economy 
A centralised scientific organisation for the study of mining 
economics co-operating with the League of Nations will, as matter 
of course, have to deal with a number of political questions. The 
vast importance of the projected inventory of the gold deposits 
deserves to be mentioned once more in this context. It will be 
followed up as soon as possible by an estimate of the world’s oil 
reserves and of all other kinds of mineral deposits. 
When our Association has become an International Institute, 
it will have to take upon itself a great number of important 
tasks, such as furnishing suitable bases for estimates in the case of 
international disputes, co-operation in the wording of commercial 
agreements, delivering expert’s opinions whenever private interests 
are to be combined.
