Inter larded are comments which are called for by points not made clear elsewhere. Where tests have been combined in series it is indicated by the directions governing the entire series. Explanations and test series are designated by letter and are arranged alphabetically. The tests borrowed from other sources are acknowledged either in the body of the book or in the Appendix near the test itself.
