Last year 4,363 tons of grano.duro were received at Leghorn
from Russia, 285 tons from Roumania, and r3o tons from the United
States. In this section the smaller manufacturer of macaroni does
not, as a rule, buy his grain direct, but secures his supply through
local agents or importers. Judging by the information I have received
 from these agents, there would appear to be no difficulty in
Securing a more extended market here for our macaroni wheat,
prices being equal, and I would advise correspondence with the loc
Importers of grain whose names I give below, sending samples and
Prices. If possible, quotations should be given c. i. f. Leghorn.
The ruling price in this market at present is 27s. ($6.57) per quarter
(500 pounds) c. i. f. Leghorn.

The local demand for macaroni wheat will doubtless, therefore, soon
be materially increased.
