PORT ECONOMICS warehouses and sheds were constructed during the war which were never used or, at any rate, have ceased to be used, and a large number of these are still either empty or only partly utilized. Unfortunately, questions of payment and rent arise, and there is competition with ports and depots overseas, where the desire, perhaps not unnatur- ally, prevails to retain storage until the goods are actually sold and despatched. Still, the matter is of sufficiently vital importance to call for very serious and attentive consideration. 6
