In order to reduce the deficit for the current fiscal year the Turkish 
National Assembly voted two Decrees, the one providing for an economy of 
16,980,000 Turkish pounds on the budgeted expenditure, the other stipulating 
that the increases granted on the salaries of state officials shall take effect as 
from June only.
