GROWTH OF EUROPEAN BORN SINCE 1901 61 The outstanding feature of the Latin and Greek group is the rapid growth of the percentage of foreign born in the first ten years of the century. In the case of the Italians, ihis growth was sharply checked in the second ten years owing principally no doubt to the war; a considerable number of Italian immigrants who arrived in Canada in the few years preceding the war returned to Italy in 1915 to serve in the war, but the Greeks showed a high percentage increase even in the last decade.
