All are confronted by difficulties. All have a
definite Purpose. And nothing but the utmost
tenacity and an unbeatable will can carry them
through to success.
No one can set a limit to the inventive genius
of man. One invention follows another. There
are a hundred new patents a day in England
alone. Miracles are being accomplished that
would amaze the inventors of past generations.
What would Faraday think if he could see
the great power-house of the London Underground
 ? What would Watt think if he could
see the latest new railway engine of the
L.M.S.? What would Arkwright think if he
could see Holland’s cotton mill in Manchester ?
What would Boulton think if he could see the
great Avery works in Birmingham ? What
would Sir Walter Raleigh think if he could see
the Carreras factory? What would Maxim
think if he could see Captain Orlebar flying
through the air at 357 miles an hour ?
But the point I wish to make is this—we have
more inventiveness than will-power. It is easier
to think than to battle against difficulties. We
have now scores of new ideas that require men
of will-power and tenacity to carry them
through to practical success.
