have happiness and a deep satisfaction. They
have friends and perfect homes and success,
and as much money as they need.
The one thing that you have is time. We
older people know the value of it. You don’t.
Time is your raw material. You are to build
your life with it. Its value depends on what
you do with it. One man uses it to create
misery, and another man uses it to create
intelligence and wealth and happiness.

Darwin used his time well. Whittaker
Wright used it badly. Darwin finished his life
in fame and honour. Whittaker Wright
finished his life in suicide and disgrace.

In my opinion many a man’s life isn’t worth
twopence. It isn’t worth getting out of bed
for. It isn’t worth the food and clothing and
housing that it takes to keep it going.

The same thing every day! The same plod
and muddle and mess! The same spites and
jealousies and fears and trifles | Nothing new !
Nothing better ! Nothing satisfactory ! What
is the value of such a life ?

What is the use of being human if you live
like a rabbit ? Why throw away all the value
of the long process of evolution, which has
created human beings from lower animals ?
