In the past, the Will has been written about
by Professors of metaphysics. The whole
subject has been befogged by scholasticism.
Almost all the books on the Will are unintellig-
ible to practical men of affairs.
Schopenhauer wrote two books on the Will
—The World as Will and Idea and The Will
in Nature. He wrote these books a hundred
years ago. Ever since then, the Will has been
a favourite subject of philosophers. Practical
men have paid very little attention to it.
But can we afford to ignore it ? Is it not
true that hundreds of men succeed because
they discover how to develop their Will-
Power, and that tens of thousands of men fail
because of a lack of Will-Power at a critical
moment ?
