depends upon what is controlling his mind. A
man who is obstinate and unreasonable is
usually controlled by his memories. He has
learned a few things, and he refuses to learn
any more. But a man who has begun to learn
the principles of efficiency has created a new
group of desires and hopes and ideas in his
mind.
As soon as this group becomes strong enough
it becomes his ‘‘ will-power.” At once he
begins to overcome obstacles and succeed
better at whatever he is doing.
A man who has been studying the ideas and
methods of efficiency for five years has
acquired an improved will-power. He can do
to-day what he would not have dared to do
five years ago.
He now knows what others have done. He
knows the new ideas and methods in business.
He has liberated himself from the obsolete
ideas that formerly ruled him. He has weakened
his fears and increased his courage. His
‘“ will-power >’ now helps him forward, instead
of holding him back.
How to create a helpful ‘‘ will-power ” in
the brain—that is the problem of every ambi-
