© WILL-POWER IN BUSINESS
what he was going to do. He had not thought
of what others were going to do to him.
We see the same thing constantly in business
life. “A young man sets out gaily to fulfil his
ambitions. He thinks only of what he is going
to accomplish. Then, when the blows begin
to fall on him, he is staggered. His ambitions
fade out and he slips back into the great mass
of unsuccessful men.
Beaten men! There are millions of them.
They drop back into routine jobs. They did
have Purpose-wills when they set out on their
way, but they encountered obstacles and
losses. Their wills were not strong enough.
And they lacked the courage to keep on.

As someone has said, humorously but truly,
there are seven ages of man :

First Age—Sees the earth.

Second Age—Wants it.

Third Age—Starts to get it.

Fourth Age—Decides to be satisfied with

half of it.
Fifth Age—Becomes still more moderate.

Sixth Age—Now content to possess a six
by two foot strip of it.

Seventh Age—Gets the strip.
