The manufacture of tyres and tubes accounted for 63.6 per cent. of the
value of the total output; footwear accounted for 10.9 per cent. and
mechanicals for 8.1 per cent. In addition to the manufactures given in
the - list above, which covers the rubber industry proper, ‘‘ Waterproof
Clothing ’ was returned in the clothing industry. Rubber was also used
in the manufacture of toys and returned in the Toys, games and play-
ground equipment report to the value of £1,430.000.
