In Kürze befiehlt das Gesetz also folgendes:
1. Der Anfangsunterricht soll in der Muttersprache erteilt

werden,
2, Ist nicht Englisch, sondern Holländisch die Muttersprache,
so soll Englisch allmählich als Medium eingeführt werden; nach
„Standard“ III muss es. aber als Medium dienen, doch dürfen auch
dann auf Anempfehlung des „Boards“ noch zwei Fächer in. der
holländischen Sprache unterrichtet werden. Hierzu kommt noch
der Unterricht in Biblischer Geschichte, welcher nach Artikel 34,
(2) (siehe Education Acts p. 13.) in der Muttersprache des Kindes,
also in diesem Falle in Holländisch erteilt werden darf,
3. Ausreichende Kenntnis des Englischen ist eine Bedingung
der Versetzung von „Standard“ zu „Standard“,
4. Gelegenheit für holländischen Uuterricht muss in jeder Schule
geboten werden, und jedes Kind muss Holländisch lernen, falls der
Vater nicht ausdrücklich eine Ausnahme wünscht.
In Schulen, in welchen die Muttersprache der Kinder weder
Englisch noch Holländisch ist, soll diese Sprache bis „Standard“ III
als Medium dienen, Englisch nebenbei eingeführt und nach „Standard“
III als Medium gebraucht werden. Es ist aber auch in diesen
Schulen die Muttersprache im Religionsunterricht sowie in zwei
weiteren Fächern noch nach „Standard“ III als Medium zulässig,
Doch ist für dieselben neben der Muttersprache und Englisch noch
Holländisch als dritte Sprache vorgeschrieben.

language shall be made in every public school and that language shall be
laught to every child in such school unless the parent of such child otherwise
desires; provided that in the case of any child whose native language is not
Dutch the teaching of te Dutch language shall be begun at such time as is
considered by ihe Director to be on educational grounds convenient. 2) In
order to ensure the effective teaching of the Dutch language the Director shall
on ihe recommencdation of the board approve ihe use of such language in any
public school in any standard above the third standard as a medium of instruction
 in subjects not exceeding two in number; and the time given to the
study of such subjects in the Dutch language shall be in addition to the time
given {0 the study of such language. 3) Where in any public school the native
 language of the pupil is neither English nor Dutch such native language
may on the same conditions and to the same extent as in this section provided
 in respect of the Dutch language be used as a medium of jinstruction
in any standard above the ihird standard.
