The terms of sale are 30 days net. No discount is ever given. In
exceptional cases when the customer is financially sound, an extension
 of credit may be granted at the current rate of interest.
At the present time, owing to a large number of the member
plants being in the invaded zone, purchases are made by the comptoir
 from c, fond to supply the Government and private customers
in France, but such purchases are guaranteed by the credit of the
whole membership and not by the limited resources of the comptoir
itself.
The comptoir has a technical bureau which, after an exhaustive
series of tests, has succeeded to a great extent in standardizing the
form of beams, etc., and reducing the number of shapes.
Comptoir d’exportation des produits métallurgiques (Comptoir
for the Exportation of Metallurgical Products).—The Comptoir
d’Exportation des Produits Métallurgiques is a société anonyme with
a variable capital, with head offices at 7 Rue Pillet-Will, Paris, which
was founded December 17, 1904, with the stated object of buying
and selling all metallurgical products. Its trade, in which it has a
virtual monopoly, is purely with foreign countries. As a matter of
fact, the only articles in which it deals are rails and their accessories,
metal ties, joists, girders, and channels.
The following 1s a list of the officers of the comptoir, together
with the names of the members. It will be noted that many of the
officers are the heads of or leading men in the firms affiliated with
the organization.
