462 REPORT ON COOPERATION IN AMERICAN EXPORT TRADE.
1

New arrangements with representatives at home must in the future only be
entered into in such a way that the representatives are placed exclusively on a
commission basis and that they do not get any shipments for their own account.
Contracts which do not comply with the terms of the convention have to be
canceled to take effect at the next due date.
All shipments to consignment places which must be named to the confidential
agent must be given to the convention bureau. Bills which leave these places in
the name of members must also pass through the convention’s central office.
Stock replenishments must be treated in the same way, but may be executed
without any charge for postage. ]
DEALS AND TRANSACTIONS PRIOR TO THE CONVENTION. .

Deals for Germany must, in any one case, only he made for shipments within
the calendar year at the latest, beginning three months from the date of the conpads,
pm must be reported to the convention bureau. (General meeting
1. 2, 13.)
_PRECONVENTION BUSINESS.

Preconvention business which was done at lower prices than those stipulated
by the provisions of the convention must, as a matter of principle, be removed
as quickly as possible.
For that purpose actual buying obligations in favor of the preconvention
buyer must be respected in the first place. As long as a customer has the
right to buy goods on the strength of a contract made prior to the convention,
at lower prices any firm is allowed to make a bid after having had the corresponding
prices and discounts confirmed by the confidential agent. (General
meeting 30. 10. 18.) ’
Representatives must fiot be given any price concessions other than those
laid down in the provisions of the convention, with the exception of existing
contracts.
As long as these deals are subject to contract—the contracts involved must
be examined by the confidential agent and acknowledged as existing according
to the law—every convention firm has the right, with its representatives, to
undertake the shipments on the terms on which the deals in question are made.
All such provisions and existing deals must not have any validity beyond
December 31, 1914, and are only considered valid up to that date within the
amounts applied for. From that period the provisions of the convention become
effective. Through the confidential agent the manner of attending to the preconvention
business must be supervised, and the members of the convention
notified with regard to the new release of the places requiring ball bearings.
(General meeting 20. 2. 13.)
Information must be given of a contract price which another member of the
convention is allowed to enter upon for the purpose of keeping a check on the
prices named by the customer. (General meeting 30. 10. 13.)
GENERAL Provisions REGARDING PRICE.

Any future reduction in price which is granted to a class of customers
must be kept secret and must not be made known to the customer or customers
involved until a release has taken place through the convention bureau or the
Jatter itself has advised the customer or customers involved. (General meeting
 30. 10. 13.)
Convention resolutions having for their object special advantages for individual
customers or groups of customers must merely be submitted by the
convention bureau to the customers, and that with such acceleration and in
such a way that the resolutions will clearly and unequivocally prove that a
unanimous resolution of the convention is involved. Through this measure it
is to be avoided that such resolutions become previously known and are taken
ndvantage of in a one-sided manner. .(General meeting 9. 9. 18.)
All printed matter concerning prices and terms which is to reach -a large
number of customers must first be made known to the members of the convention
by the convention bureau previous to the actual issuance, and the members
must have time in which to file objections.
Such bearings as are shown as odd or abnormal by one member but as
standard by another member in his catalogue may be furnished at the prices of
that member.
The prices in effect at present are valid until the end of 1914. (General
meeting 9. 9. 18.)
