474 REPORT ON COOPERATION IN AMERICAN EXPORT TRADE,
Magdeburg-Buckau ; Krupp, Germaniawerft, Kiel. (General meeting 9. 8. 13;
general meeting 30. 10. 13.)

MAcHINE INDUSTRIES, ETC.
Machine factories, ete, which mount ball bearings on machines sell them
any way, receive a discount of 25 per cent on race bearings and 40 per cent
on thrust bearings up to March 81, 1914, 30 per cent from April 1, 1914.
Furthermore a turnover bonus applies in accordance with the following table:

In closing contracts for at least 50,000 marks, or in case the volume of busiaess
done within a year’s time reaches the sum of 50,000 marks, a discount of
40 per cent may be granted beginning with this date by completely eliminating
any turnover bonuses whatever, in which connection the difference between the
former discount and the turnover bonus and that of 40 per cent may be credited
by way of retroactive effect.
Factories which come under this provision and are quoted 40 per cent must
be made known to the convention bureau before the quotation is made, provided
that the buyer in question has not reached a turnover of 50,000 marks
or more in the previous year already, and the convention bureau will then
authorize the quotation.
The quotation shall state that the customer, if he is granted the 40 per cent
but fails to reach the turnover, shall refund the difference which exists between
the discount of 40 per cent and the discount and turnover to which he is entitled
according to the actual turnover.
In explanation of this provision it is stated that the 40 per cent discount
to be granted represents an average total discount on ball races and thrust
bearings in such a way that, in figuring the average discount, the thrust-bearing
bonus of from 2 to 14 per cent is no longer granted. (General meeting 21. 2. 14.)
. As soon as the buyer's requirement (wholesalers and machine factories)
comes to 200,000 marks and over per annum, they will be granted the prices
and terms which apply to automobile factories of the corresponding scale.
The commercial business for the automobile industry is to be reserved for
the automobile industries as a matter of principle, The discounts applying to
dealers who require less than 200,000 marks have as their direct object to
protect this commercial business for the automobile industries. (General meeting
 29. 5. 13.)
PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS.

In so far as a member of the convention ships to private customers direct,
this has to be done at the prices of list P without the granting of any discount,
ete. (General meeting 20. 2, 14.)

REPAIRS.

Repairs of bearings are to be made at a unit price, which is to be 40 per cent
of the gross list price. This price is net. The factory in question has to impose
upon the customer the obligation, to which the customer must agree, that
he will take new bearings for bearings which can not be repaired, 1. e., at the
prices corresponding to the customer in question. (General meeting 8 to 10. 1.13.)
A turnover bonus may be granted, but any obligation in this connection does
not exist. (General meeting 21. 2. 14.)
On special motion a member may be released from the obligation to make
repair reports on the return blank; the member must, in that case, assume the
obligation of keeping the convention bureau posted concerning what is going on
in this connection. (General meeting 11. 9. 13.)
