countries
(a) (i) Visitor

Application: the term "visitor" has been applied to those
travel statistics which conform to the definition of a "visitor"
as recommended by the United Nations Conference on Interna
tional Travel and Tourism, Rome 1963. In general, statistics
of visitor arrivals include all visitors whether staying for
twenty-four hours or overnight or not.
(ii) Tourist

Application: the term "tourist" has been applied to those
travel statistics which conform, or very closely conform, to
the definition of a "tourist" as recommended by the United
Nations Conference on International Travel and Tourism, Rome
1963. In general, statistics of tourist arrivals include only
those visitors staying for longer than twenty-four hours or
those staying overnight in accommodation provided within the
country (i.e. excursionists are excluded).
(iii) Excursionist

Application: this term has been applied to visitors
arriving in a country for a stay of less than twenty-four hours
or to those who do not stay overnight in accommodation in the
country visited.
(iv) Cruise passengers

Cruise passengers are those visitors to a country who
arrive and depart on the same ship and use that ship's accommodation
during the duration of their stay. Where possible,
cruise passengers have been included separately from statistics
of tourist arrivals.
(b) International tourist receipts

These are defined as the receipts from payments for goods
and services made by foreign visitors in the country visited,
out of foreign exchange resources; they exclude receipts from
international fares except where otherwise indicated.
(c) International tourist expenditures

These are defined as the payments for goods and services
made by residents of the country in question when travelling
