(1) For all countries other than Canada, figures cover the following categories of
travellers who are formally admitted into the United States as "non-immigrant
aliens" temporary visitors for pleasure, students, temporary visitors for busi=-ness,
 foreign government officials and their workers and families, treaty
traders and investors, representatives to international organizations, and
miscellaneous minor groups. These figures do not include less formally admitted
visitors arriving from Mexico for less than three days.
For Canada (and for totals which include Canada), figures cover both the above
categories of travellers who are formally adnitted into the United States
as "non-immigrant aliens" and less formally adnitted visitors arriving from
Canada for more than 24 hours but less than 6 months. The formally admitted
visitors arriving from Canada numbered 358 326 in 1969 and 326,835 in 1970.
