5.  As  regards  Austria-Hungary,  the  principal  items  of  the  proposed
tariff  about  which  representations  have  been  made  to  us  are  biscuits  ;  pickles,
jams,  and  preserves  ;  the  finer  counts  of  cotton  yarns  ;  cotton  piece  goods  ;
cotton  lace  and  nets  ;  cotton  hosiery  ;  woollen  yarns  for  retail  sale  ;  woollen
tissues  ;  india-rubber  wares  ;  bookbinders’  cloth  ;  various  leather  wares  ;
leather  belting  ;  earthenware  ;  iron  and  steel  in  pigs,  bars,  and  galvanised
sheets  ;  iron  pipes  ;  files,  and  other  tools  ;  cutlery  ;  machinery  ;  automobiles  ;
railway  carriages  and  wagons  ;  various  chemicals  ;  soap  ;  and  candles.
The  following  is  a  similar  statement  to  that  given  above  in  regard  to
Russia,  showing  the  chief  classes  of  goods  in  respect  of  which  representations
against  the  proposed  new  duties  have  been  made  :—
