APPENDIX E.—REPORT ON RUSSIAN AND AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN TARIFFS.

desires that representations may be made to the Austro-Hungarian Government
 with regard to this proposal.
9. In conclusion we have to express our opinion that the reports which
we have received in answer to our applications, representative as they are of
the views entertained by the principal industries of the United Kingdom,
unite in testifying to the injury inflicted on British commerce by the tariffs
already imposed by Russia and Austria-Hungary, and we desire to endorse
the demand made by many of the Chambers of Commerce and other
representative industrial bodies that all possible means should be adopted
not only to prevent the proposed increases in tariff duties, but to procure
the reduction of those now existing.
We have, &c.
