An Act to consolidate and amend the Law relating to Friendly and other Societies. [11th August 1875.] [As amended by the Act of 1876, and explained by the Act of 1879.] Whereas it is expedient to consolidate and amend the law- relating to friendly and certain other societies : Be it enacted hy the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords spiritual and temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament as sembled, and by the authority of the same as follows :— 1. Short title of Act.—This Act may be cited as the Friendly Societies Act, 1875. 2. Commencement of Act.—This Act shall come into operation as to sections ten, thirty-seven, and thirty-eight on the passing of the Act, and as to the remainder of the Act on the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, which day is hereinafter referred to as the commencement of this Act.
