162 SELLING LATIN AMERICA roads form a network in the interior, and lead from both coasts and the United States toward Mexico City. Mexico has no large rivers suitable for the navigation of ocean-going vessels to any great distance. She has, however, much available water power, which is going to waste, and possesses thirty-four deep water ports on her eastern shore and thirty-one on the Pacific. The chief wealth of Mexico is in her mines, although agricultural products and the rais ing of cattle add much to her source of reve nue, the annual value being estimated at more than $200,000,000. The soil is exceptionally productive, yield ing coffee, henequen, corn, cocoa, tobacco, fruits, beans and cotton. At one time much rubber was exported and there are to-day many estates of cultivated rubber unable to ship their products. The forests have valuable woods and have been but little exploited.
