GERMANY A. — Budgetary Situation The German budgetary year runs from April 1 to March 31. The revenue and expenditure are assigned to the year for which they have been authorized by the budget, irrespective of the time when they are effected. In case the Reichstag does not pass the estimates before the beginning of the fiscal year, special authorizations are provided for the intervening period. The estimates for the fiscal year 1925 are divided into two separate budgets: 1) General Administration of the State and 2) War Charges. Below are given the budgetary figures for the years 1924-25 and 1925- 1926. The figures for the preceding years are not given because the abnor- mal state of the currency during those years renders them of no value for purposes of comparison. 1. The details of the final budget, when available, will be reproduced in a forthcoming number of the European Economic and Political Survey, issued by the Reference Service on International Affairs.
