THE STORY OF ARTIFICIAL SILK
who lived on the shady side of the street.
Those who lived on the sunny side were in
almost all cases free from this defect. Since
then, we have discovered that the lack of
sunlight is a prolific cause of all manner of
bodily troubles. As everyone knows, a bright
sunny day is a tonic for the mind as well as
the bodv.
In the last 10 years, we have awakened
to the part which is played in health by the
SKIN. We have an outer and an inner skin.
The longer Ultra-Violet rays penetrate to the
inner skin and reach the blood and nerve-
endings. ‘‘ Sunlight is the best masseur,”
says Dr. Rollier.
The skin eliminates many of the poisons
that form in the body. We breathe through
the skin. as truly as we do through the nose.
There are four methods of eliminating the
wastes and poisons of the body—by the
bowels, kidneys, skin and breath. A man
could live for 20 days without any action
of the bowels and for ro days without any
action of the kidneys. But he could only
ive for ONE Hour without any action of his
skin.
