Curiously enough, the average monthly earnings of all workers for both male and female doffers in Bombay were almost identical although the average daily earnings and the average full time monthly earnings of women were respectively eight pies and a little more than a rupee less than those of men. This is due to the fact that female doffers put in better attendance than men, the average number of days worked by them being 256 out of 27 working days as against 243 days worked by male doffers.
