Median weekly earnings of full-time workers by length of scheduled hours
In an effort to ascertain whether the length of the scheduled work
week influenced the earnings of hosiery workers, the median weekly
earnings of full-time workers were arrayed according to length of
scheduled hours. There appeared to be a tendency for women’s
earnings to be slightly higher when the scheduled work week was
short. Men with scheduled hours of 52 and less than 54 had the
highest median earnings but earnings were higher for the group
scheduled to work a 48 hour week than for those with a weekly schedule
in excess of 54 hours (Table 15).
