The data in Table 37 for these states include only the state’s portion of the receipts, and on this basis they are comparable. Considering the period 1923 through 1928 as a whole, only Illinois and Wisconsin exceeded Missouri in the proportion of total state taxes derived from inheritance taxes. Missouri also ranked third on a per capita basis in the last three years
