GOVERNMENT BONDS 
STATE OF WASHINGTON 
Capital: Olympia. Admitted to 
Statehood: Nov. 11, 1889. Population: 
1910, 1,141,990; 1920, 1,356,621; 1929, 
1,600,000 (est.). Area: 69,127 sq. mi. 
Acres Cultivated: 1.261.031. 
Resources: Leads all states in lum- 
ber production with annual cut of 7 
billion feet. Standing timber estimated 
at 330 billion feet. State possesses 
one-sixth of potential hydro-electric 
power in U. 8. About 600,000 acres un- 
der irrigation in eastern part of state, 
producing fruit and diversified farm 
products. By dry farming approxi- 
mately 1,500,000 bushels of wheat pro- 
duced annually.
