Victoria, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India, To our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Councillor Sir JouN Doucras SurHerLAND CaMPBELL (commonly called the Marquis of Lorne), Knight of Our Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Knight Grand Cross of Our Most Distincuished Order of St Michael and St George. Greeting : WE do, by this Our Commission under Our Sign-Manual and Signet, appoint you, the said Sir JouN DovueLAs SUTHERLAND CawueBeLL (commonly called the Marquis of Lorne), until Our further pleasure shall be signified, to be Our Governor-General in and over Our Dominion of Canada during Our will and pleasure, with all and singular the powers and authorities granted to the Governor-General of Our said Dominion in Our Letters-Patent under the Great Seal of Our United Kingdom bf Great Britain and Ireland, constituting the office of Governor, bearing date at Westminster the Fifth day of October, 1878, in the Forty-second year of Our Reign, which said powers and authorities We do hereby authorize you to exercise and perform, according to such Orders and Instructions as Our said Governor-General for the time being hath already or may hereafter receive from Us. And for so doing this shall be vour Warrant. 29)
