Housing and Rents. Among German municipal statisticians it is held that the supply of house- room in a town may be regarded as adequate so long as the number of unoccupied dwellings does not fall below a proportion of 3 per cent, of all dwellings. According to this standard it would appear that the supply of house accommodation in Magdeburg was insufficient from 1897 to 1902, but that the proper relation between supply and demand was restored in 1903, and has been maintained.
