Taking prices at Berlin as 100, the index number for meat at Mannheim is 110, for other food 108, and for coal 115, the general level of prices as a whole being indicated by 109. The index number for rent and prices combined is the same as for Berlin, viz., 100, a figure which is exceeded by Stuttgart alone of the 33 towns included in the present inquiry.
