nuity, or other benefit from the funds thereof be 
first duly satisfied, or adequate provision be made 
for satisfying such claim: 
(c.) Any officer or person aiding or abetting in the dis 
solution of a society, otherwise than as in this 
Act provided, shall, on summary convictiou, be 
liable to be committed to the common gaol or 
house of correction, there to be kept to hard labour 
for any term not exceeding three months (a) : 
(d.) If any member of a dissolved society, or person 
claiming any relief, annuity, or other benefit from 
the funds thereof, be dissatisfied with the provi 
sion made for satisfying his claim, such member 
or other person may apply to the county court of 
the district within which the chief or any other 
place of business of the society is situate for relief 
or other order, and such court shall have the same 
powers in the matter as in regard to the settle 
ment of disputes under this Act (b). 
(8.) Dissolution by award, <£c.—With respect to dissolu 
tions and the distribution of funds upon the award of the 
chief registrar:— 
(a.) Upon the application of one-fifth of the whole 
number of members of any registered society, or 
of one hundred members in the case of a society 
of one thousand members and not exceeding ten 
thousand, or of five hundred members in the case 
of a society of more than ten thousand members, 
made in ‘writing under their hands, setting forth 
that the funds of the society are insufficient to 
meet the existing claims thereon, or that the rates 
of contribution fixed in the rules of such society 
are insufficient to cover the benefits assured, and 
(a) This punishment may be mitigated under the Summary 
Jurisdiction Act, 1879 (42 & 43 Yict. c. 49, s. 4). 
(i) This provision is similar to 18 & 19 Vict. c. 63, s. 13.
