158 39 & 40 Vict. Cap. 45, s. 10. 
unless lie be an officer of tbe society, or be 
specially authorized by a resolution thereof, shall 
have the right to inspect a loan or deposit account 
of any other member without the written consent 
of such member: 
i(/.) Supplying copies of annual returns.—Supply gratui 
tously to every member or person interested in 
the funds of the society, on his application, a copy 
of the last annual return of the society for the 
time being: 
{g.) Balance sheet, Joe., to he hung up at office.—Keep a 
copy of the last balance sheet for the time being, 
together with the report of the auditors, always 
hung up in a conspicuous place at the registered 
office of the society. 
(2.) Provisions as to hanlcing.—The following provisions 
shall apply to the business of banking by societies (a)— 
(a.) No society which has any withdrawable share capital 
shall carry on the business of banking: 
(b.) Every society which carries on the business of bank 
ing shall, on the first Mondays in February and 
August in each year, make out and keep con 
spicuously hung up in its registered office, and 
every other place of business belonging to it, a 
statement in the form in the third schedule hereto 
annexed, or as near thereto as the circumstances 
admit (6): 
(c.) The taking deposits of not more than five shillings 
in any one payment, nor more than twenty 
pounds for any one depositor, payable on not less 
than two clear days’ notice, shall not be included 
in the business of banking within the meaning of 
(а) The business of banking is for the first time permitted by 
tliis Act to be carried on by an industrial and provident society. 
It was expressly excepted from the trades allowed to be carried 
: on under the Act of 1862. (25 & 26 Vict. c. 87> s. 3.) 
(б) This statement is similar to that required by the Com 
panies Act, 1862, to be made by a banking company.
