A. — Budgetary Situation
It is not possible to give an exact statement of the expenditure of Luxem-
burg for any fiscal year after 1922. That year was prolonged to March 31,
1924, and is closed, but the final expenditure can not be given so long as the
1921 account remains in abeyance. All figures given below are subject to later
modification, especially as concerns expenditure.

The budget proposed for the year 1925 is given below. Subject to very
slight modifications the Chamber of Deputies has adopted this budget for the
first reading. After being voted upon the second reading the budget will be
definitive. The expenditures accredited to the different government departments
are not inclusive. For example, the increase in salaries of government employees
