He
On obtaining its concession the German Transradio Com-
pany had already founded the Cia. Transradio Argentina,
which now, in accordance with contract, was converted into a na-
tional company, in which the four world firms held equal shares.
The Cia. Transradio Argentina at the same time changed its
name to “Transradio International”. In 1923 the station was
completed, and since this time Argentine has been in con-
tinuous reciprocal connection with the American, French,
German and English high power stations.
In founding the Argentine Company, the four firms decided
not to confine the adjustment of their mutual relations to
Argentine only, but to enter on a co-operative scheme for the
development of communications in the whole of Central and
South America. This led in 1921, to the formation of a common
committee, the Commercial Radio International Committee,
with its headquarters at Paris. Each of the four companies
nominated two delegates to this committee, who meet twice
a year under the presidency of the chairman, in one of the
four capitals, for discussing questions on communication in
Central and South America. In this way the fruitful work of
the Committee was extended to other countries in South
America, and a high power station was erected in Brazil. Not
only was the capital for this undertaking provided by the four
companies, but the technical design and construction was
carried out by them jointly. Each of them undertook a fourth
part of the total work of manufacture. This is the best proof
that the hopes, which were centred in the Committee at the
time of its formation, were fully justified both from the
economic and technical points of view. The Committee has
now set itself the further task of including Chili in the world’s
wireless system.
The development attained by the four countries, undisturbed
by patent disputes, has within a short time advanced com-
munication by means of short waves, to such a state of tech-
nical improvement, that short wave as well as long wave trans-
mission is now widely used. Short wave transmission holds
out great promise for the development of wireless television.
