The net experience was, So per cent of the industrial groups had 
an increase in the rate of production, 52 per cent had a decrease in 
the accident frequency rate, and 68 per cent had a decrease in the 
severity rate. 
For the purpose of this digest straight line trends have been pre- 
pared, using the method of least Squares. The accident and produc- 
tion performance for the first year was taken 4s 100. By using the 
index method the increases or decreases in the percentages can be read 
directly from the charts. A summary of the findings for each in- 
dustrial group follows.

Acids and Heavy Chemicals. The combined experience of three 
chemical companies, with 4,276 employees, shows 24-per-cent increase 
in the rate of production from 1921 to 1923, accompanied by a 43- 
Per-cent decrease in the accident frequency rate, and a 48-per-cent 
decrease in the severity rate, (See Chart I.)
