Opinions differ as to the lines on which Alaska
will materially develop, but in any event there are
in Arctic Alaska thousands of natives, who, pre-
viously nomadic and occasionally famine stricken,
have become industrious and self-supporting com-
munities, holding their own and. growing in im-
portance.
