INVITATION TO CO-OPERATE 
AT ALL THE CONGRESSES FOR THE STUDY OF ECONOMICAL 
problems dealing with the relations that obtain between “The 
State and Economy” much space is invariably given to agricul- 
tural interests, Mining Economy being almost wholly disregarded; 
agricultural interests are, besides, always discussed uniformiy and 
represented in their totality; there even exists at Rome, since 1905, 
an “International Agricultural Institute”. Research devoted to 
Mining Economics, however, is being carried on disconnectedly, 
and there are, as yet, but few perons who see that these problems 
call for international co-operation. 
The growing significance of the mining industries and of geology 
with respect to world production is paralleled by the increasing 
political importance of the part played by mining economics. The 
political influence of organized labour is an outstanding feature 
in home politics, and the greatest importance, at present, attaches, 
in international politics, to the ownership of the various kinds of 
exploitable mineral and other deposits. 
Research in the field of Mining Economics as well as agreements 
in this domain having thus a considerable bearing upon peace 
both at home and between the nations, it would appear to be im-
