t As a result of the Great War, France is now (1926) controlling and administering
5,022,727 square miles of territory in Africa including Madagascar, of which 188,382 square
miles are in the mandated territories of Cameroons (166,489 square miles) and Togoland
(21,898 square miles) Great Britain controls and administers 2,963,432 square miles, of
which 731,000 square miles are in the mandated territories of South West Africa (322,400
square miles, under the Union of South Africa), Tanganyika (365,000 square miles). Came=
roons (31.000 square miles), and Togoland (12.600 square miles).
