It is of interest in passing to compare the immigrants from the different countries as to
sonsistency of bebaviour in respect to naturalization in the various parts of Canada. Table
92 shows the range of fluctuations by country of birth. The range is admittedly a very
srude index of consistency or dispersion, and were the subject of sufficient importance from
she point of view of this study, the average or standard deviations would have been computed.
 However, our purpose here is merely to show that marked differences do appear in
che consistency of behaviour of the various foreign born people in respect to naturalization
as between different sections of the country; or, to put it in another way, that the naturaligation
 of certain peoples is influenced to a great extent by differences in rural and urban
distribution, geographical and occupational environment, and distribution as to time of
arrival, etc., while in other cases the influence of these factors is comparatively small.
The range of 60-5 p.c. for the Austrians in Table 92 was computed by taking the
iowest percentage of that immigrant group naturalized for any province, from the highest.
