must find, somewhere, a Man who will fight
for it. It is surrounded by apathetic people
and by enemies. It will come to nothing unless
it can find a champion who will do battle for
it.

Here, for instance, are nine of these new
ideas that may be developed into great
industries. Several of these have already been
taken up by men of strong will-power, but
others are waiting to be developed.

(1) EnciNEs CONTROLLED BY WIRELESS. In
1929, at Croydon, there was a wonderful
demonstration of engines controlled by wireless.
 There was a toy train on a circular track.
The engineer at Croydon said ‘‘ Go ” to the
train, and it went forward. He said *‘ Stop,”
and it stopped. He said *‘ Back,” and it ran
backwards.

It is now possible to control a mechanism by
merely talking to it. It is the most wonderful
invention of the moment. No one can tell, as
yet, how far we can put it to practical use.

(2) THE CreaTioN oF CLIMATE IN Fac-TORIES.
 It is now possible to create an artificial
climate in any factory. It is possible to have a
cotton mill anywhere. It is possible to make
macaroni in northern countries. It is possible
