The company was drastically reorganized.
Dr. Henry Dreyfus became Chairman. In
1927 the shares had a boom. They soared
suddenly to £6. A few years before, they
could have been bought for 2s. gd. This
illustrates the difference between State control
and private management.
The company floated new shares. They
were over-subscribed 20 times over. Dr.
Dreyfus asked for £2,500,000, and the British
public offered him £50,000,000. This flotation
proves that the British Artificial Silk industry
will never suffer for lack of capital.
